As per the predictions of Ming Chi Kuo, KGI Securities Analyst, the next generation iPhones, which are to be launched in 2017 will feature a 5.8 inch display with a 5.15 inch main screen. He further speculated that the iPhone 8 will feature a 5.8 inch OLED display panel, out of which 5.15 inches of display will be usable. The rest display in Phone 8 is for virtual buttons.

According to the recent rumors, Apple will eliminate bezels. Thus, next generation iPhones will no longer have a home button and Touch ID fingerprint recognition technology. The front panel of the iPhone 8 will only have a display.

Kuo further says, the OLED iPhone measurements will be similar to the 4.7 inch iPhone. This size is possible with a 5.8 inch panel as no bezels are eliminated. So no extra space is required for the function are on the front panel of the iPhone. So, the display will be similar to 5.5 inch iPhone packed in a 4.7 inch size.

From the research notes of Kuo, it appears he believes Apple will offer standard LCD iPhones in sizes 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch. However, the features in these iPhones are yet not known. Kuo has said it will include glass casing and on air wireless charging feature. No other potential features have been highlighted in the research notes. Further, he also said that OLED iPhone will be the highlight by Apple in 2017. So, it can be assumed the other two rumored iPhone may have some minor changes.

Since, Touch ID fingerprint technology will be eliminated from the next generation iPhone, new biometric technologies will feature in place of it. The rumors suggest either iris or facial recognition technology will be adopted for the 2017 iPhone lineup.

Apple may also introduce stacked logic board design to support longer battery life in the OLED iPhones. Regarding the battery life in the OLED iPhones Kuo says, iPhone 8 may have the size similar to 4.7 inch iPhone 7. However, the battery capacity must be similar to the 5.5 inch iPhone 7 Plus.

Kuo also expects with OLED display, longer battery life and the new rumored biometric technologies, iPhone 8 will come with a heavier price tag. Last week, Fast company also shared rumors related to the prices of the OLED iPhones. The cost is expected to exceed with $1,000.

As per Kuo, in the second half of 2017, 100 million iPhones will be shipped by Apple. Out of these 100 million iPhones, 60 percent are expect to be the OLED iPhones.
